Lyndon B. Johnson Document Signed. One page, 22.5" x 17", Washington D.C., January 2, 1968. This is an appointment that announces G. William Jones as a Member of the Commission on Obscenity and Pornography. It is co-signed by Dean Rusk as secretary of state. Johnson set this Commission up in response to a 1968 Supreme Court ruling that allowed Americans to view whatever they wished in the privacy of their own homes. A report was produced by this Commission and it was highly rejected by the public; however, it had important things to say about sex education and the effects of pornography on children. The document is in very fine condition, with light overall toning. Framed to an overall size of 24" x 19".
