Lyn Graves, retired art and history teacher at Harlowton Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art and history instruction. With nearly 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Graves has excelled as an art and history teacher at Harlowton Public Schools from 2007 to 2016, at which time she retired. Prior to this role, she served as a substitute teacher at Great Falls schools in Great Falls, Montana for 18 years. As an artist, she paints almost every day as a Western artist painter. Before embarking on her professional path, she pursued an education at the University of Providence where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education and history. She continued her academic efforts at the University of Montana, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts in 2014. In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Graves remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a volunteer archivist, exhibit designer, and docent at the Historic St. Mary’s Mission & Museum. She also volunteers at Saint Mary’s Mission offering archival and exhibit design services. She found great success with her published work, "The Graves Hotel Through the Eyes of the Newspaper and Recipe Book." In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Graves has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She garnered numerous awards from the Montana State Fair in Great Falls when she was young and was recognized as the Western Heritage Artist of Great Falls, Montana. She was presented with the Best of Shadows of the Past award, was a two-time recipient of the Tier Award from the Blackfoot Valley Art Auction, and a People’s Choice Award from the White Sulphur Springs Rotary Art Show. In the next five years, Ms. Graves aspires to continue her artistic pursuits and expand her travel experiences. She looks forward to revisiting Europe, with a particular desire to explore places she missed during her previous trips. She is hopeful that she will continue to create art in the next five years and aspires to participate in new exhibitions and have her artwork sold at larger art auctions.
