Lyman Kipp was a central figure of the Minimalist movement of the mid-1960s, as abstract painters and sculptors explored the term and concept. Between 1966 and 1968, Kipp's geometric constructions were featured in many of the important museum exhibitions that defined the Minimalist aesthetic including Primary Structures at the Jewish Museum, New York in 1966 and Art of the Real at the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1968.
