This is a circa 1895-1908 Lunkenheimer Co. Cincinnati, Ohio Oil Pump No. 3. The piece shows all solid brass construction with cylinder glass visible pump design and wood turned handle. The piece is marked on the top, "Lunkenheimer Co. Cincinnati, O. Oil Pump No. 3." These exact style models were used by the Wright Brothers as prop shaft oilers on the first airplane ever built. These were also used on early Hit-And-Miss-Engines and Trains. The piece shows very well preserved condition with the rare cylinder glass. Same design as the visible gas pumps. The pump handle works and the piece appears to function (no oil tested for pump). Modern pipe fitting added for display use. Measures overall 8.5"H x 7 1/8"W with a 3" modern pipe fitting stand. Rare piece. Originally valued over $350.
