In 1973 Estremadoyro entered the school of Fine Arts in Lima, Peru. By 1981 he was exhibiting on an international level, representing Peru in the IV Biennial in Medellin, Columbia, where critics recognized him as one of the most important living Latin American figurative painters. After numerous exhibitions, Estremadoyro won the prestigious painting prize for the celebration of the Bicentennial of the French Revolution, and was invited as a professor at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he spent most of the decade of the nineties. Estremadoyro’s work has been seen at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Latin American Art, in Long Beach, California, the Museum of Modern Art in Medellin, Colombia; the Uribe Velez collection, in Medellin; the Carton y Papel de México collection in Mexico DF; and in the Cabinet des Estampes de la Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris. In 1996, Philippe Dagen, art historian, professor at the Sorbonne in Paris, critic for the newspaper Le Monde, curator, and novelist cited Estremadoyro work as some of the finest paintings created in the last 100 years. Estremadoyro lives in Peru and continues to explore new techniques in Realism. Estremadoyro’s work is in museum and private collections throughout the world.
