1) The Luftwaffe officer's sword has a straight 28 1/4" single fuller blade. The high polish blade is etched on the reverse with a "SMF/SOLINEN" maker's mark and stamped with a Luftwaffe "stick eagle" acceptance mark. The sword has the distinctive down-turned counter guard with stylized feathers, sunwheel swastikas on the hilt and pommel and wire-wrapped, blue leather grip. The scabbard body is covered with blue leather and has an aluminum throat and drag. The scabbard is complete with a blue leather hanger. The first pattern Luftwaffe flying officer's dagger has a 12-inch highly polished, double-edge blade etched on the obverse with an "ANTON WINGEN JR/ SOLINGEN" makers mark. The dagger has a three tiered, wing-shaped counter guard, large swastika "sunburst" pommel and smaller sunburts on the counter guard. The brown leather grip has a brass, three-wire twisted wrap. The dagger is complete with a scabbard with blue, pebble-grain leather body, silvered metal tip, suspension band and throat and silver plated, chain hanger with clip.

1) The sword is in fine condition with excellent, un-touched, blade. The metal fittings on the hilt are tarnished. The grip is in very good condition with all of the leather cover and twisted wire wrap. The scabbard is in very good condition, the pebble-grained leather cover has some minor scratches and the silver-plated tip and throat are tarnished. 2) The dagger is in very good condition. The blade retains about 85% of the original high polish finish with some discoloration on both sides just above the makers mark. The hilt is tarnished and has scattered light dents and scratches. The leather grip cover is scuffed on the high point, but the wire wrap remains intact. The scabbard is in good overall condition with several minor tears in the cover and some minor dents and scratches in the tip, suspension band and throat.
