Five items from Silberstein's homeland in Poland, spanning several decades:

Original 8.75 x 6.5 mounted photograph of Silberstein (seated, second from the left) as part of a class in Krakow at about 18 years old, signed and dated on the reverse, "Krakow 1889, Ludwik Silberstein," with a caption written in Polish: "Uczniowie klasy ósmej Gimnazjum sw Jacka w Krakowie [Eighth grade students of the St. Hyacinth Imperial-Royal Gymnasium in Krakow]." Silberstein also identifies all subjects of the photo beneath the image.

ALS in Polish by physicist August Witkowski, one page, 9 x 11.25, July 11, 1890. As a professor at Jagiellonian University, Witkowski writes about Silberstein. Silberstein began studying calculus under Witkowski before even finishing his secondary education, and considered him to be among his most important teachers.

Manuscript document from the Politechnika Lwowska [Lviv Polytechnic], one page, 8.25 x 13.5, June 24, 1895. Document issued to Silberstein by the pro-rector. Silberstein worked as an assistant at the Lviv Technical School from 1895 to 1897.

Original 2.5 x 4.25 carte-de-visite photograph of the mustached Silberstein at about age 30, taken by Murillo of Warsaw circa 1902.

TLS in Polish by electrical engineer Janusz Lech Jakubowski, one page, 8 x 11.75, Politechnika Warszawska [Warsaw University of Technology] letterhead, January 4, 1947. Jakubowski sends thanks to Dr. Silberstein's wife, Rose Silberstein, for a gift of $100.

In overall very good to fine condition, with edge tears and splits to folds of the fragile 19th-century documents.
