Very scarce pin from the days of the Cowboy's Turtle Association, along with Cowboy’s Turtle Association membership card from 1945, and original photograph of Lucyle roping, dated 1935.

The Cowboy’s Turtle Association is considered the birth of Professional Rodeo, circa 1936. Lucyle Richards Cowey was a World Championship rodeo rider and Wild West show star from Cuero Texas. Cowey was a consummate horse rider and performer, and certainly was an "unconventional" woman in many ways, and was married more than a dozen times. Cowey was the All-Around Woman's Rodeo Grand Champion in the mid-1930s, as well as the Woman's Saddle Bronc Champion from 1951 to 1957. As a pilot during World War II, she flew bombers to Great Britain for the U.S. Transport Auxiliary.
