Lucky Boy,NV - Mineral County - c1908 - First House in Lucky Boy RPC :
Photo taken by X.E. Johnson. It shows a very crude brush-covered canvas-sided “home,” complete with stove smokestack protruding from the top. Someone has written in pencil on the reverse: How would you like to live in this house, but the card was not addressed to anyone and is not postmarked. There is a Lucky Boy Pass that was initially a route for prospectors going east from Aurora toward Hawthorne, Broken Hills, and Tonopah. As those areas became popular destinations, the pass became a stage trail and supply route. Prospectors exploring near the pass in 1907 discovered silver and the Lucky Boy Mine was founded, and soon a small town of the same name sprung up. Among its first settlers was a writer who founded the Lucky Boy Mining Record, which he published between June-September 1909, noting that its location was Luckyboy.
