This Serigraph refers to a meeting of the statesmen Hosni Mubarak and Colin Powell in Sharm-El Sheik in 2003. As a basis the artist used a newspaper photo which he paints in reduced, pale colors and only in an insignificant detail. Only a table, two arm rests of the chairs and the truncated hands of the participants can be seen, a typical pictorial means of the artist who thus creates through alienation a new reality.

The serigraph in colors is signed and dated lower right ‘Luc Tuymans 72/150’.The condition is very good. The sheet measures 49.6 x 32 cm.

Luc Tuymans (b. 1958)

From 1976 to 1982 Luc Tuymans first studied fine arts in Brussels and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. A study of art history at the Free University of Brussels followed. His participation in Documenta 9 in Kassel in 1992 made him internationally known. Since then, he got many solo and group exhibition around the world. Tuymans works are represented in the collections of many major museums. (fea)
