This Lovely Oil on Canvas, "Profile of a Woman" signed N. Haritonoff for Nicholas V. Haritonoff (1880-1944), is in Very Good Condition. Measuring 15 3/4 X 21 1/2 inches with the nicely carved Giltwood Frame. Haritonoff studied at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg and became one of Russia's most renowned artists. He painted a portrait of the Czar and also one of the Czar's wife and child which hung in the Czar's palace in St. Petersburg. In 1920 he immigrated to the US and became an American citizen. He worked with Nicholai Fechin, another Imperial Acedemy alumni, in NY. In 1926 he dubuted at the National Academy of Design. His works still hang in the Russian Art Museum and the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg as well as the Lauren Rogers Museum in Mississippi. He is well listed in the art reference books including "Index of Artist" by Mallet and "Who's Who in American Art" by Peter Falk. Please view and zoom all pictures, serious inquiries are welcome!
