Camille Pissarro is known as the ?Father of Impressionism? as he was the primary developer of the impressionist technique and foremost proponent of the movement. He was the only impressionist to exhibit in all eight of the Impressionist exhibitions and was mentor to countless artists of the time, including Cezanne and Gauguin.
?The Road to Louveciennes? is a beautiful print of Pissarro?s original painting of a couple walking along a quiet, snowy road. The road is lined by the quaint village homes and businesses overcast in blue tones by the wintery sky. The print is handsomely mounted in a uniquely finished frame with a multicolor wash to bring out the varying flecks of color within the composition. The inner fillet of the frame is a more crisp white that compliments the soft whites of the snow. Including the frame this piece measures 26 ¼?x 20 ½? and would be a wonderfully affordable way to bring a taste of the impressionist masters to your home.
