[Antwerp], Michiel Hillen van Hoochstraten, [1535], 4to, mod. limp boards (provisional binding), kept in a cloth box with gilt title label on front cover, [26] ff. (blank F6 preserved). Very good copy, printed on coarse paper. Cfr. ill. € 1500/2000 Extremely rare second copy recorded. Text of Aeneid, Bk II with extensive notes ("castigationes") by the Louvain professor H. Barlandus (1486-1538); it was based on a manuscript from the Mechelen Carmelites. Evidently intended for the use of Louvain students - and this copy has gone through a student's hands !! Large historiated woodcut initials. Extensive marginal and interlinear student's notes (from B4 onwards), a few pen drawings. Ref. NK 2365 (1: BL London = STCDutch p.206 = Index Aureliensis 113.094).
