<B>[Circular] Decree Appointing Commissioners and Setting Time and Place for Marking the Southwestern Boundaries of the Louisiana Purchase.</B></I> Mexico: 1836. With heading: <I>Primera Secretaria de Estado. Departamento del Exterior. </B></I>Four-page folio folder (text of treaty in Spanish and English in parallel columns). Imperial Octavo. First Mexican printing. Signed in print at the end on June 18, 1836, for the interim president of Mexico, Jose Justo Corro, by Jose Maria Ortiz Monasterio. <BR><BR>This decree, which relates to the long disputed and much delayed southwestern boundary of the Louisiana Purchase, sets the time and place and appoints commissioners for running and marking the boundary from the mouth of the Sabine River to the Pacific Ocean in northern California. As it turned out, the treaty became effective on the same day as the Battle of San Jacinto, making the whole matter of the boundary meaningless as far as Texas was concerned. This being an edition in Spanish and English of the <I>Additional Article</B></I> to the <I>Treaty of Limits</B></I> of January 12, 1828. Green half leather case with gilt lettering.
