He actively supported the French Revolution and adopted the name Philippe Égalité, but was nonetheless guillotined during the Reign of Terror. Manuscript DS, in French, signed “LP d’Orleans,” one page, 8 x 12.25, May 28, 1787. Crisply penned untranslated document, signed at the conclusion by d’Orleans. Central horizontal and vertical fold, and a few light creases, otherwise fine condition.
