Pioneering French microbiologist and chemist (1822–1895) who demonstrated the germ theory of disease and developed the first vaccine against rabies. ALS in French, signed “L. Pasteur,” one page, 4.5 x 7, Institut Pasteur letterhead, April 20, 1893. Brief letter to a colleague concerning a visit from noted leprologist Dr. Sauton to his laboratory. In full (translated): “Dr. Sauton can come to the Institut Pasteur Saturday, as he wishes, from 10 o’clock to noon.” In fine condition, with three punch holes to left edge and a uniform shade of mild toning.
