Raisonne info: This chair was originally designed for the Worlds Fair and later sold at J.W. Robinson Co. Scholars have attributed this to Louis Dierra who was a designer at the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company.

According to the manufacturer the original process of producing plate glass left a dimpled surface which had to be ground and polished to create a transparent sheet. This chair appears to be of the un-ground variety.
