An arresting work of decorative art that embodies the spirit of early Louis Comfort Tiffany and Tiffany Studios table lamps, this large lotus / lily-pad style lamp offers both presence and visual poetry. The shade alone is nothing short of spectacular, a sweeping dome of hand-cut, richly toned glass tiles in warm amber, soft gold, and subtle green highlights, all arranged in a radiating rib pattern that evokes the veined underside of a giant lotus leaf or water lily pad. The undulating edges, the subtly graduated coloration, and the tight, seamless joinery all read as period-appropriate and exceptionally well resolved. Beneath, the base echoes the organic form of the shade. It rises smoothly in a slender, fluted column from an elegantly domed foot, which is softly ribbed and rests on spherical feet. The metal surface shows a warm patina, consistent with age but with hints of verdigris in recessed areas, giving the piece a lived, elegant patina. The lamp is fitted with a six-socket cluster under the shade, and although we have not located a signature or maker's mark, the form, technique, and materials strongly resonate with Tiffany influence. Please note weight of lamp is approximately 60+ pounds.
