Crystal Autumn (2005)
Artist: Henry Li
27"x20"
Sumi Ink and Water on Rice Paper (Xuan paper)
Framed in White Wood Lacquer frame (41 1/2" x 27 1/2")
You are looking at an original ink and water painting (Sumi-e) entitled "Crystal Autumn" signed and dated 2005. I made this painting in the fall of 2005 and it was accepted by the 2007 Sumi-e Society of America Annual Exhibition in Minnesota and honorably mentioned and published in the Summer-Fall issue of the Quarterly of the Sumi-e society of America. In this picture I tried to depict the scene of a lotus pond in a peaceful fall morning, a large leaf bent to the left with reflection in the mirror-like water, a pink flower still blooming behind the leave, a bird singing on top the long curved stem. In terms of composition I heavily considered the negative space or voids, following the traditional principles, yet I included the reflections to give it a more contemporary style. I hope you like the efforts I put into this special painting and happy bidding!
P.S. It comes with a special-ordered StrongBox® that will well protect the picture in shipping. Since me, the seller will pay for shipping to the 48 US states so you will get this re-usable StronBox® for free--a $200 value!
