After completing her film and photography studies in Munich, she took over the fatherly photo studio and opened a gallery. She has portrayed e.g. Marc Chagall, Albert Einstein, Käthe Kollwitz, Thomas Mann, Edward Steichen and Alfred Stieglitz. To her oeuvre also belong experimental photo prints that she created without using a camera, which were later coined by Leo Katz as ‘photogenics’. She was awarded with the Dr.-Erich-Salomon-Preis of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie.
