Lot of two powder horns, the first being approx.12” overall with a wood base plug, lots of wear and a great look; the other is a scrimshawed old horn approx. 14” overall showing a repeating square and dot design with a date “1758” and theinitials “R” or “OR” around the horn base and the initials “HR” carved into the wood plug with a vertical bar intersecting the horizontal leg of the “H” that connects to the “R”. This horn is in well worn condition and is accompanied by a letter from Edward L. Kreinheder Antiques of Warrensburg, NY, dated Oct. 2, 1981 indicating that when he purchased the horn in a big collection, it was said to have been the horn of a Mohawk Indian in service with the British in theFrench and Indian War. An interesting story that may be researchable but sold as is. Est.: $200-$400.
