Lot of two old powder horns including an old buffalo horn, approx. 12” overall with some worm damage, copper spout and base;The other horn is a large steer horn, approx. 17” overall with a Spread Eagle scrimshaw and inscription “Sm WmBrown, Sacketts Harbour, At Ye Lake, Year 1813”. Although we have some reservations about the period of inscription, the horn is accompanied by an authentication letter dated Oct. 13, 1982 from antique dealer Edward L. Kreinheder ofWarrensburg, NY: A finely done horn in any case. Est.: $500-$750.
