Lot of two large original cabinet photos, the first being an important image showing four men, three with Marlin rifles, in front of a shelter with sign above the entrance “Oleary & Lawler”, approx. 6” x 8” and also labeled in the photo “The first cabin in Skaguay (Alaska). This image is in overall good condition with some slight fading but otherwise very focused and complete; it appears each of the individuals in the photo have been id’ed on the lower portion of the photobackboard from left to right with the first three difficult to make out but the far right man is noted as “Matheson”. Skaguay was a rough and tumble Alaskan mining and gambling town where the likes of Soapy Smith and other notables operatedin the late 1800s.; the second original photo is also approx. 6” x 8” and in very good condition showing a two story brick and shingle house with picket fence and decorative fretwork; also standing in front is an African American man, awhite woman and a ram with unusual rack of horns standing by the fence. Est.: $100-$150.
