Lot of two items including a combination quill cutter and two-bladed knife in the original cardboard carrying case. Approx 3-5/8” overall (closed) with two blades marked “English & Son”. Both blades show traces of original polish with scattered light pitting. The quill blade snaps; the pen blade does not snap and is sprung. The opposite end of the blades is a German silver quill cutter, used by gentlemen to sharpen goose quills for writing. Fine tortoiseshell scales with German silver pins. Circa 1840’s. The second lot is a modern two-bladed pocket knife by Marbles, approx. 3-5/8” overall with a 2-7/8” spearpoint blade and a 2” pen blade. Ricasso is marked “M.S.A. Co. 01 Gladstone, Mich – USA” with imitation tortoise-shell scales and steel bolsters, with case.From the Hugh Hayes Collection. Est: $300-$600
