Remington & Sons, Schuyler, Hartley and Graham, etc. in excellent condition with a Certificate of Authenticity from Kenneth Laurence Galleries. The second item is exceedingly rare and is a Chicopee Bank check dated Jan. 27, 1848 for $250 issued to John Brown, Jr. and signed by John Brown, in overall very good condition and with a Xerox copy of a Bruce Gimelson, New York advertiser picturing this check and stating “John Brown. Overzealous abolitionist; raided arsenal at Harper’s Ferry in 1859; tried for ‘treason to the Commonwealth, conspiring with slaves to commit treason and murder’; hanged on Dec. 2nd. Partially printed ADS, 1p, oblong 8vo, Springfield (MA), 27th January 1848. A check drawn on the ‘Cashier of the Chicopee Bank’ for two hundred and fifty dollars made payable to John Brown, Jr. With a bold signature of Brown, and a few minor cancellation holes.
