Lot of two Civil War hand grenades, one shows wood and cardboard fins which are marked “Patented Aug 20, 1861. Shows removable firing pin at front where cap is placed. Powder is inserted in the rear, and plug with wooden shaft with arrow type fins. Measures approx. 13” in height, metal body measures 5-1/4”. Very good to near fine condition. With old hand-written tag from the Liberty store, Central City, Nebraska. And a more standard Civil War hand-grenade with wick type fuse, which wa lit and thrown. Est: $500 - $1,000
