Lot of three 1898 Copyrighted Belford, Middlebrook & Co. original large format folios entitled "The Hawaiian Islands" approx. 10" x 14" showing period copies of original Hawaiian photographs taken in the late 1800s. There are approx. 45 of thesephotos, all different (15 per folio) and all are in very good condition with some slight staining to the bottom of one of the folios but not affecting the photographs. Subject matter includes shots of Waikiki beach, early buildings, sugarcane and pineapple fields, Honolulu Troop barracks and prison, the Royal Family, harbors, early street scenes, coastline photos and volcanic craters and landscapes. An important series of historic images of early Hawaii and a fascinatinglook at the Islands and their native peoples before large scale development. Est.: $150-$300.
