Lot of four items including a small 5-3/4” by 2-1/2” French recessed case with four pocket-knife blades in various stages of completion. Inside case is marked “George Iberson & Co. Sheffield, England”. Circa approx. 1900. A small pearl-handled Sheffield-made fancy dagger marked “E. T. Allen” “S. F.” (retailer) on the ricasso. 7-1/4” overall with 3-3/4” double edged dagger blade with median ridge. The blade is unsharpened with light discoloration and one small patch of slight pitting. Hilt shows one piece pearl with tang peened at pommel. German silver crossguard and ferrule. With original veneer over cardboard leather sheath with German silver mounts, missing the button. Both the knife ricasso and the sheath throat are marked “189” in red nail polish associated with the Bob Ables collection. Circa 1890 to 1910. The third item is an unmarked 18th century single-blade pocket knife, approx. 3-5/8” overall with a 2-3/4” special-use blade. Blade is stamped “Cast Steel”. Scales show a checkered line-engraved bone with iron pins, with one chip at the pin, and a hole in the pommel for a bail which is now missing. Iron rat-tail bolster and iron liners. The blade has nicks, half stop, and good snap. Circa approx. late 18th century. The fourth piece is a miniature Bowie knife by IXL Wostenholm, approx 4-7/8” overall with 3-1/2” blade and sharpened false edge. The blade is stamped “IXL Geo. Wostenholm & Son. Sheffield-England”. Waisted ivory hilt with three iron pins with brass pummeled and integral crossguard and ferrule. With period leather sheath with galvanized throat and tip. Obverse of throat has removable pin for a lapel. Est. 1960’s. Hugh Hayes Collection. Est: $400 - $800
