1) Good Luck Flag (Hinomaru) was a traditional gift for Japanese servicemen deployed during the military campaigns of the Empire of Japan, during World War II. The flag is a national flag signed by friends and family, with short messages wishing the soldier victory, safety and good luck. 28" H, 42" L. There is a tear at the top, white silk with red printed "Meatball". Srink wrapped on cardboard backing, 48" L, 34" W. 2) Imperial Japanese Naval Ensign. Rising Sun Flag (Kyokujitsu-ki) design adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy (Naval flags have the sun off center to the left). IAJ had the sun in the center. Very nice one piece rising sun flag that measures approximately 28" x 36”, and is made of very fine silk. It is in very good condition, with a dyed red "Sun" in the middle, with rays going out to the edge of the flag. It features gold toned leather reinforcements and ties on the staff side and nicely stitched borders. Shrink wrapped with cardboard backing, 30" x 40".
