<B>Lot of Three Signatures of Literary Interest,</B></I> including:<B> Louis Bromfield</B></I> (1896 -1956) was an American who became internationally renowned both as a prize-winning author and as an innovative conservationist and scientific farmer. He was a friend with some of the most celebrated personalities of his era. Malabar Farm near Lucas, Ohio, was Bromfield's home from 1939 until his death in 1956. It was the location for the wedding of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, and draws thousands of visitors each year. After serving with the American Field Service in World War I and being awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honor, he returned to New York City as a reporter. In 1924, his first novel, <I>The Green Bay Tree,</B></I> won instant acclaim. Two years later, he won the Pulitzer Prize for <I>Early Autumn.</B></I> Of his 30 books, many, such as <I>The Rains Came</B></I> and <I>Mrs. Parkington,</B></I> were made into successful motion pictures; <B>Marquis James</B></I> (1891- 1955) was an American journalist and author. He served in the First World War, in France, 1917-1919. He worked on the staff at the <I>American Legion Monthly</B></I> from 1923 to 1932. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for two of his nine books, <I>The Raven: A Biography of Sam Houston</B></I> (1929) and <I>The Life of Andrew Jackson</B></I> (1937); <B>John Phillips Marquand</B></I> (1893-1960) was a 20th-century American novelist. He achieved broad popular success and considerable critical respect, though there were critics who harshly attacked him. In addition to his well-known Mr. Moto spy series, he wrote a succession of meditative and satirical novels on America's upper class and those who aspired to join it. All are on cards mounted on stiff card stock with a brief biographical sketch.
