Willard, 5.25 x 8.5, two pages (front and verso), February 4, 1888, Evanston, Illinois, on Woman's National Temperance Union stationary; an autograph letter signed from Neal Dow, 5.25 x 8.5, two pages (front and verso), August 13, 1888, Portland Maine ; and, an unsigned autograph note condemning drink, 4.75 x 7.75, two page (front and verso), n.d..<BR><BR> Frances Elizabeth Caroline Willard (1839-1898) was an American educator, temperance reformer, and women's suffragist. Willard was elected president of The United States Women's Christian Temperance Union in 1879, a position which she held for life. She created the Formed Worldwide W.C.T.U. in 1883, and was elected its president in 1888.<BR><BR> Neal S. Dow, nicknamed the "Napoleon of Temperance", (1804 -1897) was a prohibitionist mayor of Portland, Maine, known as the "Father of Prohibition".
