Lot of Three (3) War Club Maces, from various regions: (1) Very nice bamboo and forged iron Lohangi-katti mace used by the aboriginal tribes of Central India. It has eight half-round thin iron plates with long tangs, surrounding a bamboo shaft, with circular thick iron bands to retain the plates. Top of shaft has an iron band to reinforce the tip and retain the tops of the plates. There is a decorative thick round copper wire wrapped in the middle, to enhance your grip. There is an iron band at the bottom of the bamboo shaft. OAL is 43-1/2''. Condition is very good, showing much age and deep rust patina to the metal parts. The bamboo shaft has a nice dark patina. Everything is tight and well put together. A very neat example. (2) Indo-Persian all metal mace with a horned devil's head top. Made of iron with etched floral decorations on the shaft and cup guard. The devil's head is hollow with etched decorations of two people and floral themes, with a face on the front and two horns on top of the head. OAL is 28''. Condition is good, showing light age and an overall gray finish to the iron. (3) Carved wooden pole with a mace type club top. Body of the shaft is covered with carved tribal decorations covering about 16'' of the central part. Top head is about 3'' in dia. with a hole through it for a thong possibly. Body of the shaft is about 1-3/4'' wide, round, and about 38'' long, the bottom portion missing. Possibly from Africa, but origins are unknown. Condition is fair, as the bottom portion of the shaft is missing, but has been that way for a very long time. Shows much age and patina to the light colored wood. There are numerous chips, cracks, and scratches over all the surface of the wood. Est.: $300-$600/lot.
