<B>Lot of Ten Early Documents, most with Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina Interest:</B></I> <BR><B>Deed</B></I> - autograph document dated May 31, 1797, complete with 1 shilling embossed tax stamp in upper right corner, signed "<I>Chas. Hustler</B></I>", 16.5" x 13.25" (opened). <BR><B>Note</B></I> - signed "<I>Herschel Johnson</B></I>" of Bartow, Georgia inquiring about people in Bridgeport, Connecticut, n.d., 7" x 3.75". <BR><B>Letter</B></I> - signed "<I>J. J. Griffin</B></I>" to General Ira R. Foster relating to an election involving the general and the Sons of Temperance. Foster (1811-1885) was active in state politics and during the Civil War served as quartermaster general for the State of Georgia. The letter, dated October 3, 1849, is 15.5" x 12.5" (opened). Some tearing at the folds. <BR><B>Bill of Sale</B></I> - payment of $133. for a stud horse, July 6, 1851, 7.75" x 4". Tearing at the folds and the edges. <BR><B>Letter</B></I> - four page, autograph letter, signed "<I>J. Adams</B></I>", dated January 16, 1833 and February 6, 1933, that contains a detailed account of traveling through Georgia and Florida. The last page is about the nullification crisis and southern plans for war. The letter has a February 7, 1833, Charleston postmark, 15.25" x 12.25". Tearing at the folds and one repair. <BR><B>Two Promissory Notes</B></I> - partially printed notes signed, "<I>John A. Staples</B></I>", dated February 9, 1854, 7.5" 6". <BR><B>Tavern License</B></I> - partially printed license to sell spirituous liquors, signed, "<I>Wlm. Malone</B></I>", Decatur County, Georgia, January 3, 1854, 7.5" x 7". <BR><B>Oath</B></I> - partially printed, promising not to "…barter, sell, give or furnish to any slave or slaves…distilled or spirituous or intoxicating liquors…" without the consent of the employers or owners of the slaves, Decatur County, Georgia, January 3, 1854, 7.5" x 4". <BR><B>Affidavit</B></I> - autograph document regarding the disposition of Negroes in Choctaw County, Alabama, July 2, 1868, 8" x 12". <BR><B>Judgement</B></I> - partially printed document, Milton County, Georgia, November 12, 1878, 7.75" x 5.5". <BR>Unless otherwise noted, the items are in very fine to excellent condition. <BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Flat Material, Small (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
