He made many important contributions in theoretical and observational astronomy as a staff member of Mount Wilson Observatory and Palomar Observatory for most of his career; Walter Baade (1893 -1960) was a German astronomer who emigrated to the USA in 1931. Along with Fritz Zwicky, he proposed that supernovae could create neutron stars; Leslie C. He discovered more than 400 variable stars and over 1000 stars of high proper motion; and, Thomas J. J.
