3 items total. Includes two Type 97 hand grenades. The body of the Japanese Type 97 hand grenade is made from cast iron, and is serrated to ensure maximum fragmentation. They were filled with TNT, with a time delayed fuse of 4 or 5 seconds. It is 3.75in high, 1.97 in diameter, and weighed about 1lb when filled. Both have bronze fuses with pins and draw strings. Fuses marked with Japanese characters. One is painted black. 3) Rare example of the Japanese Type 100 HE Mortar Round used with the Type 97 (1937) and later the Type 99 small trench mortar. This is based on the Stokes-Brandt design, as was the U.S. 81mm, and this round was actually interchangeable with the U.S. M43A1 shell. Matching numbers "393". Japanese characters stenciled in white on body and lower part of fuse.
