<B>Lot of Five Transportation Stock Certificates:</B></I> Includes the following: <BR><B> Tucker Corporation</B></I> - Founded by Preston Tucker, the Tucker Corporation manufactured the 1948 Torpedo with futuristic, aerodynamic styling. The automobile featured a rear engine, disk breaks, fuel injection, all instruments within the diameter of the steering wheel, and a padded dashboard. Tucker was indicted for fraud and the factory was shuttered by the government. There was a total production of fifty cars. This certificate is for forty shares, issued on September 16, 1947, and measures 12" x 8". <BR><B>Star Motors</B></I> - The Star was an automobile assembled by the Durant Motors Company between 1922 and 1928 that was envisioned as a competitor against Ford's Model T. In 1923, Star became the first car company to offer a factory-built station wagon. This cleanly engraved certificate is for three shares, issued on June 28, 1923, and measures 11" x 8". <BR><B>Bendix Helicopter, Inc.</B></I> - In 1944 Vincent Bendix established his last company, Bendix Helicopters (later renamed Bendix Helicopters Inc.). The company developed a single-seater helicopter with an enclosed tube and fabric fuselage and a 100hp engine. The Model K made its maiden flight in June 1945, but Bendix eventually ceased operations in 1949 without achieving certification. The certificate is for one hundred shares, issued on June 11, 1945, and measures 11.5" x 8". <BR><B>Kelsey Motor Company</B></I> - Founded by Cadwallader W. Kelsey, the Kelsey Motor Company began building automobiles in 1925 in Belleville, New Jersey. The company made few cars before competition from larger firms soon brought the Kelsey venture to an end. The nicely engraved certificate is for twenty shares, issued on September 12, 1923, and measures 11" x 8.75". <BR><B>The Lake Torpedo Boat Company</B></I> - In 1912 Simon Lake founded the Lake Torpedo Boat Company that built 24 submarines for the U.S. Navy. He also designed a torpedo-boat for the navy. Financial difficulties forced the company to close in the mid-1920s. This one hundred share certificate is signed "Simon Lake".
