Lot of Five Signatures of Sculptors
Lot of Five Signatures of Sculptors, including: Gutzon Borglum (1867-1941) an American artist and sculptor famous for creating the monumental presidents' heads at Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, as well as dozens of other impressive public works of art; Rudolph Evans (1878-1960), sculptor, was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Virginia. He studied in France at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and with Auguste Rodin and Augustus Saint-Gaudens. After returning to the United States in 1900, he maintained a studio in New York City. Evans designed the statue of Thomas Jefferson inside the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. and sculpted the statue of Robert E. Lee (1932) in the Virginia State Capitol; Mahonri Young (1877-1957) an American sculptor and artist. Although he lived most of his life in New York City, Young is most remembered in Utah as being the grandson of Brigham Young who sculpted the This Is The Place Monument and the Seagull Monument in Salt Lake City; Felix de Weldon (1907-2003) an American sculptor. His most famous piece is the Marine Corps War Memorial of five U.S. Marines and one sailor raising the flag of the United States on Iwo Jima during World War Two; Jo Davidson (1883 -1952) was an American sculptor. Although he specialized in realistic, intense portrait busts, Davidson did not require his subjects to formally pose for him; rather, he observed and spoke with them. He worked primarily with clay, while the final products were typically cast in terra-cotta, marble, and bronze. All but Borglum's signature on cards with a brief biographical sketch of each. All very fine.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
