A varied group of signed items from former first ladies Bess Truman and Mamie Eisenhower including a one page typed letter signed "<I>Bess L. Truman</B></I>", 7.25" x 10.5", on Harry S. Truman personal letterhead, Independence, August 7, 1972, to Mrs. Arthur Eisenhower (wife of Dwight Eisenhower's brother), in which she thanks the latter for a "clever card" and mentions that "Mr. Truman is not yet quite up to answering his mail" (he died four months later), accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, with the usual fold creases, else fine; a one page typed letter signed "<I>Bess L. Truman</B></I>", 6" x 8", dated January 25, 1973, to Mrs. Arthur Eisenhower, thanking the latter for her message of sympathy upon the death of Harry Truman, with the original transmittal envelope, in fine condition; a birthday card signed "<I>affectionately Mamie Eisenhower</B></I>", dated "<I>August 24, 1971</B></I>", to an obvious close friend "Mary", with the brief note (in Mrs. Eisenhower's hand): "<I>Think of you often - Played mah jong other nite [sic]-</B></I>", boldly inscribed, in fine condition; and a free frank postal cover, 5.5" x 3.75", signed "<I>Edith K.
