(1) is of a sleeping cowboy resting alongside his gear with an A-1 Branding Iron and measures 19"x34"; (1) is of 2 cowboys with 1 cowboy on a horse holding an A-1 Beer bottle and measures 11"x21 1/2"; (1) is a gleeful jumping cowgirl twirling a lasso and measures 11 1/2"x15"; and (1) is a cowboy standing with an A-1 Beer bottle and measures 6"x17". 1920s advertising, by artist Lon (Alonzo) Megargee (Feb 9, 1883-Jan 24, 1960). Lon Menargee at the age of 30 linked his name forever in Arizona history despite the competition from better known senior artist of his day. He was chose by Arizona Governor Hunt and the Arizona Legislature in 1913 to paint 15 large historic and iconic murals, for the State Capitol Building in Phoenix, Arizona. He was paid the then princely sum of $4,000 in 1914 when the mu4rals were complete. His Arizona statehood commission launched his early art career into considerable prominence in Paramount Movie productions and drawing colorful illustrations for popular Western story magazines in the 1920s.
