Lot of 4 Muzzle Loading Long Guns.
a) Model 1817 U.S. Flint Rifle, NSN,.54 caliber, part octagon barrel shortened to 34", marked USP, lock marked R. Johnson, Conn., no date, iron ram rod, iron patch box, added barrel sight. CONDITION: bore is dark with deep rifling, barrel is plum brown to silver, lock has been re-converted to flint, shortened wood has numerous cracks and dings, iron trigger guard is a replacement.
b) Rifle/carbine, NVSN,.60 caliber 14” barrel made from Belgian rifle, unmarked lock, brass trigger guard and foil circle with man’s face, modern stock, pistol grip with detachable stock. CONDITION: Iron has dark aged finish, bore dark with heavy rifling, no main spring, globe sight, galvanized butt plate and name plate.
c) Rifle, NVSN, 33” barrel from a U.S. 1803 rifle converted to percussion, lock marked Henry Parker (Trenton, circa 1860) full stock striped maple, single trigger, brass patch box. CONDITION: iron is dark patina overall, dark bore, fixed sights, stock has a break at about midpoint of lock plate, repaired using iron strap at bottom right of trigger guard and copper plate screwed to left side of stock.
d) Rifle, NVSN,.44 caliber 30” heavy barrel, half stock, brass furniture with round patch box, double set trigger, lock marked “Martin Smith, Philadelphia”, top of barrel marked “Man’d for ……” [illegible], muzzle stamped “70”. CONDITION: Iron has dark patina overall, dark bore, fixed sights, mustard colored brass, lock is mechanically excellent, small area of replaced wood on left side of stock.
