<B>Lot of Three Signatures of Scientists and Engineers,</B></I> including: Michael I. Pupin (1854-1935) a Serbian physicist and physical chemist. Pupin is best known for his landmark theory of modern electrical filters as well as for his numerous patents, including a means of greatly extending the range of long-distance telephone communication by placing loading coils at predetermined intervals along the transmitting wire (known as pupinization); Vannevar Bush (1890 -1974) an American engineer and science administrator, known for his work on analog computing, his political role in the development of the atomic bomb, and the idea of the memex-seen as a pioneering concept for the World Wide Web. A leading figure in the development of the military-industrial complex and the military funding of science in the United States, Bush was a prominent policymaker and public intellectual ("the patron saint of American science") during World War II and the ensuing Cold War; and, Sir James Hopwood Jeans (1877-1946) a British physicist, astronomer, and mathematician.
