Lot of Three (3) Indian ''Bullova'' Axes, from the Chota Nagpur area of India, with different shaped axe heads: (1) The first is a half-moon shaped blade, with a hand-forged eyelet for mounting, measuring about 8-1/2'' wide. The round wood shaft is tipped with decorated brass fittings at the top and bottom, and measures 36'' in length. There is thin round brass wire wrapped in four places along the wood shaft with a steel strap to secure the head. Condition is good, with age graying to the blade. Upper brass tip is missing a small iron point. Wood shaft has a nice dark aged patina. (2) The second axe has a four-pointed blade approx. 5-3/8'' wide, with a hand-forged eyelet for mounting. Wood shaft is 37'' long with decorated brass fittings at both ends. Tip of the upper fitting has an iron point. Shaft is wrapped in four places with thin round brass wire surrounding a steel strap for retention of the axe head. Condition is good, with age graying to the blade, and a nice dark patina to the wood shaft. (3) The third axe has a wide ''V''-shaped blade that measures 6'' at the face. It has a hand-forged eyelet for mounting. The 37-1/2'' wood shaft has a steel reinforcing band at the top and an iron point. There is a thin leather cord wrapped around a steel strap in several places for retention of the axe head. Condition is good with age darkening and rust stains to the blade, and a few edge nicks. Wood shaft has some cracks and a nice dark patina. Est.: $300-$500/lot.
