Lot of (2) includes a letter that is dated July 1, 1935 and has been hand-signed in black ink pen by Herbert Hoover (D. 1964) as well as a photo print that measures 8" x 10" in size.

Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874-October 20, 1964)
President Warren Harding appointed Hoover to the position of the Secretary of Commerce and he served under Calvin Coolidge as well. In 1928, Herbert Hoover overwhelmingly won the Republican nomination for President after which he defeated Al Smith in the general election by a landslide. He served as the 31st President from 1928-1932. Unfortunately, his Presidency was marred by the Great Depression. Franklin Roosevelt, promising a New Deal overwhelming defeated Hoover and was elected in 1932. He followed this with three more victorious elections.
