a) Cavalry Saber, no maker, 35 ½” curved blade, deep wide fuller, secondary thin “gutter” above the fuller, wide heavy spine, three bar brass guard, two strand brass wire grip wrap, slight bend in grip seen on many Confederate swords, heavy iron scabbard, very thick heavy iron drag, heavy iron rings and mounts, attached tag seems to say that grip was re-wired at Jackson Arms, Dallas at some time. Blade is smooth silver gray, no signs of sharpening, number of small notches in edge, scabbard is iron gray.
b) Cavalryman’s Carbine Sling and Snap, 1¾" wide, thin flat brass clip cornered buckle, single prong, no brass tongue re- enforcement, belt stamped “B NECE- PHILAD”, snap is not marked. Surface of leather is flaking, iron construction of snap rather crude.
