Lot of Two (2) Antique American Breechloading Double-Barrel SXS Hammer Shotguns: (1) Colt Model 1878 Sidelock, #14651, 10/10 ga., 30'' Belgian-made tubes with bead front sight on full-length rib originally had Damascus finish, marks under forend incl. ''10'' (ga.); locks are marked ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co.'', outside hammers with barrel release lever between them; two-piece varnished fancy walnut stocks, checkered splinter forend with pull-up latch, pistol-grip buttstock checkered at wrists, with vacant German silver oval at belly and checkered hard rubber buttplate having the ''Rampant Colt'' logo. Mfg'd ca. 1878-89, originally with (likely) blued barrels and case hardened locks/breech. Condition is fair retaining no original finishes but an overall deep brown with heavy pitting to barrels. Stocks show worn checkering, buttstock broken thru at wrist but shows lovely flame grain, marked ''W.F. Ex. Co.'' (spurious) at left, buttplate with worn details and two chips out at left toe. Breech locks up tightly; left action does not hold cock, right has broken mainspring; bores show overall black-powder erosion. (2) Parker Sidelock, #B1603, 10/10 ga., 30'' tubes with bead front sight are marked ''Parker Bros. Makers Meriden, Conn. Damascus Steel'' on full-length rib; outside-hammer locks are marked ''Parker Bros.'', ''Patented Nov. 13, 1866'' at bottom, ''lifter'' push-button opens breech; two-piece varnished walnut stocks, checkered splinter forend with single key, pistol-grip buttstock checkered at wrist with steel shotgun buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1870s-80s, originally with Damascus barrels and case hardened locks/breech. Condition is fair retaining no original finishes but an overall gunmetal gray-brown with cleaned scattered pitting to barrels. Stocks show very worn checkering, buttstock broken thru at wrist and repaired with metal plate and copper wire wrap, left-side cracks at pistol grip and buttplate top tang, 2''x.25'' wood patches at wrists (right missing). Breech locks up tight; actions function; bores show overall black-powder erosion. Est.: $400-$700/Lot. (Antique)
