Lot of 19th century costumes made for Wild West show Indians, consisting of three complete sets and extra accessories including two headdresses, one constructed of velvet with leather fringe, others cotton with fringe and beadwork. These outfits were made so that the Indians and wild west shows could be properly garbed and not offend Victorian sensibilities. The Indians had a tendency to be somewhat naked. Document stating 101 ranch provenance. The letter states that these wild west show suits were purchased by Donna Young of Texas from a small museum in Ponca City, OK. When the contents were sold 20 years ago from March 27th, 2000. The letter further states these suits were worn by Indians in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and on the 101 Ranch in the early 1900’s. The appraiser identifies the beadwork is Iroquois and the letter states the suits were made in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Louis Stillz and brothers. Letter signed by Anita Stiner of Hayden, ID who researched them. Est: $750 - $1,500
