George Custer signed lot of ten envelopes. All envelopes are made out in Custer's hand to his wife ''Mrs. Genl Custer''. George Custer married Elizabeth ''Libbie'' Bacon in 1864 after overcoming her family's initial disapproval. Envelopes are sent to Libbie at a variety of locations: Monroe, MI; Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley, KS; and ''339 Penn Ave.'' in D.C. Seven of the ten envelopes has original 3-cent stamps affixed. Postmarks bear the city and date without the year. Each measures 5.25'' x 3.25''. Expected toning and uneven tearing to right or left edge from opening, not affecting signatures. Overall very good condition.
