Lot consisting of two important model 1911A1 .45 ACP caliber semiautomatic pistols by Union Switch & Signal Co. in presentation display box showing US&S stamp at center and display plaque engraved “Experimental models of Switch & Signal Co. 1911-A1 US Army Cal. 45 Auto. Mfg. July 1943”. Gun number 1 is a US&S Co. marked .45 ACP serial #EXP on frame with US&S marking. This pistol is finished with a blue finish like Singers and shows standard markings on the slide. The pistol shows 99% plus of this original blue finish, just some slight toning, minor handling, but is nearly mint overall with pristine interior and just some slight display and operation and near mint grips. Gun number 2 is also marked US&S over EXP on right side of frame, with trademark on left side of slide, but is cut-away for display purposes. This pistol is also finished like a Singer with bright blue and this display piece is excellent to mint condition with just slight toning. The case is in fine to excellent condition, showing some scratches to the lid and a brass piano-type hinge.
