Bound in exposed wooden boards with a contemporary 1/4 calf spine; age-toned throughout, 132 pages, 6.5” x 4.25.” Published in Salem, Massachusetts in 1796 for “Cushing and Carlton, at the Bible and Heart.” The following is an excerpt from his book (intended to be his epitaph): “The Body of Benjamin Franklin, Printer, (Like the cover of an old book, Its contents torn out, And stript of its lettering and gilding) Lies here food for worms; Yet the work itself shall not be lost, For it will (as he believed) appear once more, In a new And more beautiful edition, Corrected and Amended by The AUTHOR.” Howes F323; Evans 30433.
