Good/Very good condition - Revolutionary War US Surcharged model with bayonet - "Of the nearly 100,000 arms given to the Americans by France, the Model 1766 musket was supplied in such a great number, that it later served as the pattern for the United States' first musket - the Model. 1795." Neumann: Battle Weapons of the American Revolution - 43" slightly shortened pin fastened round smoothbore barrel, finish to soft plum/brown patina - normal light surface pitting & rust on barrel - regulation walnut full stock with pronounced comb - normal age & handling marks - has repair at forend tip - front broken - rear notch sights - faint markings on lock plate -configured as a fowler - standard configured flat lock plate w/ reinforced hammer & original Revolutionary War period US Surcharge on the tail - lock shows evidence of having at least 3 different mainsprings as indicated by the stud pin holes - regulation hardware including trigger guard w/ long teardrop finials, screw fastened butt plate and flat "S" shaped side plate with illegible inspector's marks - functional lock w/ strong mainspring & distinct Charleville & "D" inspector's mark - yr. mfg: ca. 1768-1773 - SN N/S - est. 1800 - 3500 - Antq - 19XXEPOK022
